I'M BACK!

I'M BACK!

It's been a few years since I've kept up on the blog, I actually shut it down completely at the beginning of this year. I decided I was going to write for myself, and myself only. I got 2 points in and decided finding the time for writing for myself, well, if I'm being completely honest, I decided TV was a better therapy for me at the time! HA!

Going forward I'm not exactly sure what you should expect to see. I would love to tell you I have a plan, and it's exciting! Buuuuut, realistically I just felt God really leading me to writing again. Ok... that's not really the whole truth either. Let's back up.

God works in some pretty awesome ways. A friend I had known for a few years organized a women's conference in the area. When I heard about it I thought, eh. I'm not really one to get into "all the feels" with a bunch of women. I'm not a crier, ESPECIALLY not in public, and well, how do I say this? I'm just not a really good listener! I'm fairly certain I have some undiagnosed ADD which makes paying attention to anyone for any length of time comparable to wanting to stab myself repeatedly with a sharp object. (Don't ask how I made it through college, because I"m really not sure myself. Although with a Health and PE major, you do get to take a load of sport classes!) I'm getting so off track here! Ok, back to the local conference! My two BFFs announced that they would be attending this conference so I decided, why the heck not go and see what's it's all about. Quin, the brainwork behind the whole conference, and blogger over at Sanctification and Spitup had posted she needed some volunteers for something she was doing onstage. Remember that whole, stabbing myself with a sharp object thing I was talking about earlier? What better way to breakup those feelings than getting on stage! So I volunteered. In the next few days, I decided to reach out to my pastors wife because I was just feeling the need for community and really just needing to feel needed. I was needing a purpose, a job, a task, just something to busy myself. Well, that day I received a call from Quin, almost in a panic, telling me she had an awkward block of time she wasn't sure how to fill. HOLD THE PHONE! YOU NEED ME? AND I GET TO GET ON STAGE... WITH A MIC. TO ENTERTAIN PEOPLE... AND I CAN GIVE STUFF AWAY...AND YOU DON'T CARE WHAT I DO/SAY... I MEAN WITHIN REASON OF COURSE??? SIGN ME UP! (I used the next few days to prepare an interactive bible game that my mom helped me come up with! I had so much fun planning for it and putting it together. It turns out we didn't have much awkward transitional time as intended, but me and my very new friend I Literally LOL had fun on stage for a 15 min. block of time! It all went great!)

Quin had planned the conference out perfectly. It fell on the 1 year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey, so there were speakers and panel talking about their impact with that and seeing God work through such devastation. The next day she had lined up a couple other speakers, a long with another panel, and herself as well. I'm pretty sure I didn't get anything out of the conference that was intended for me to get out of it, instead what I got was an amazing chat from God. I"ve always really struggled with "hearing God's voice." I seriously feel like my whole life I"ve been waiting for the clouds to part, a laser beam of light to shine down and this extremely deep voice say "Dayna..." If you can't guess, that's never happened! Listening to all of the speakers talk that weekend almost all of them referenced hearing God talk, or using someone in their life to feel God speak to them. The whole time I sat there I was feeling this tug, these thoughts, this voice in my head saying "this is what I want you to do." I want to speak through you.

So that's the story. I feel more called to be doing on stage speaking/small group speaking... but let's face it! I don't have a lot of practice, I have no idea what to talk about, and well you actually have to be asked to speak, in order to speak someplace! HA! I thought starting my blog back up was a good in between. I want to kind of start to feel out what it is I'm suppose to be talking about. What topics will encourage people the most, and what topics I feel most passionate about.

So to end this first post, of a new start, I just wanted to say, please buckle your seat belt, keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all time, and hold on for a bumpy ride with me!
